¤ Wrap-up of the 2000 Season
The Twins 5th season in the MSBL-SoCo ended once again at 3-16. We lost one additional victory on the field to a protest by a Dodgers team desperate to make the playoffs. Although the record may not show it, this year's team was much more competitive than any previous team - the games we lost were generally close games - a few breaks could have given us as many as 3 or 4 extra wins. Sore arms and other injuries hurt late in the season.
Of the players on this year's roster, 6 were new to the MSBL. While it's great to get new guys into the League, it does take some time to adjust back to hardball. By the end of the year, everyone was playing better and the team had really pulled together.
One reason for our better overall effort was deeper pitching. Cary Kistler and Tom Eilers carried the load, with Tim Hudyncia, Todd Caterina, and Glenn Shuck filling in. The late-season additions of John Santistevens at catcher and Rick Zahradnik in the outfield helped round out the roster.
All-in-all, it was a fun season. Each game was hard-fought, and we are all optimistic about 2001. With some good experience from this year, the Twins are sure to be a solid playoff contender.
